Camp WIN

Women’s Intersport Network of Kansas City (WIN for KC)

Camp WIN

ACA Accredited Camp | Day Camp | General Camp

Camp WIN is a four-day sports day camp for incoming 1st through 6th graders. Throughout the week, campers are introduced to 12-15 different sports and fitness activities along with life skills training with WIN for KC’s custom curriculum, Live Active. Campers learn about effort, resilience, belief and teamwork as they work through their lessons and push themselves to learn new sports. We believe involvement in various types of sports and fitness activities improves girls’ physical and emotional well-being. They learn how to take feedback, how to set goals and build a plan to achieve them, how to build relationships, and how to be part of a team. These skills will stay with them for a lifetime.

Camp WIN is about so much more than teaching sport skills. Yes, campers are introduced to a broad spectrum of both traditional and non-traditional sport activities they may never have explored otherwise, but more importantly they learn how to support each other, be positive and be willing to try new things. They meet girls from different communities and backgrounds and learn how to build relationships. They also see other girls and women in leadership roles as junior captains, captains and coaches. Having these role models helps campers see firsthand how they can strive to become leaders themselves

“As we expected camp has been WONDERFUL. The genuine smile on (my daughter’s) face in the pictures I took at drop off and the ones the counselors are sending me are testament to what an amazing thing you are doing. Thank you so very, very much! ”

“I can see what other kids have gone through and how they survived. It helps me get through & conquer. We are all survivors. That’s a gift.”

“When I'm at camp, I feel like a normal kid. Some kids don't get to go outside because our parents are just working too much and too hard. At home, I'm just watching movies all day. I don't want to get too old to come to Wildwood.”

“Without the support of Camps for Kids and the matching fund, CHD Families would be unable to provide a free medically supervised summer camp for kids with Congenital Heart Defects.”

“I look back on the struggle of my childhood and one of the most important and best childhood memories I have includes the time spent at camp with the amazing men and women who treated me like I was normal despite my struggle.”
