Heartland Therapeutic Riding Camp

Heartland Therapeutic Riding hosts several types of camps over the summer.
The first is a week-long day camp for our current riders and their siblings. Cowpokes campers are divided into small groups allowing them to rotate through scheduled activities. Activities include a daily riding lesson, hands-on horsemanship activities, trail rides, crafts, and a Friday Horse Show to show off their newly acquired skills to friends and family.
HTR also hosts two Mini Camps designed for kids, ages 6-14, who have disabilities and may need higher staff support and a shorter day. The same activities mentioned above are included in these mini camps.
Summer Occupational Therapy Intensives are another option featuring 1.5 hour long daily sessions, for four consecutive days. These sessions are designed and lead by a licensed Occupational Therapist and focus on nature based therapies and activities, including incorporation of equine movement (hippotherapy). All sessions are one-on-one with a Heartland Therapy Services Therapist.
All campers learn all aspects of horsemanship in an environment that accounts for physical, cognitive, and emotional challenges. Instructors set goals with each camper at the beginning of the week. We see changes in behavior, self-confidence, as well as improvement in riding skills and horsemanship.
