Special Olympics Kansas Camp Shriver
Camp Shriver is a free program through Special Olympics International that demonstrates social inclusion for athletes with intellectual disabilities (ID). The camp works with youth from within Wyandotte County to provide access to sports, experiences, events and learning that the campers do not have access to during a typical summer. Access to these experiences are often denied due to many factors including financial burden, access to facilities or acceptance of individuals with ID. Camp Shriver for Wyandotte County will focus on providing this service to area Kansas City, Kansas school children as well as providing an atmosphere for learning social, emotional and physical skills.
